4 Cold Coffee Drinks to Enjoy This Summer

As the American songwriter Brian Wilson once said, “Summer means happy times and good sunshine.” And what better way to beat the heat than with an ice cold coffee drink.

1) Coffee Lemonade

There’s something about sweaty summer days that make you crave sweet foods or drinks. Common standbys include watermelon, mojitos, or lemonade. Cool down this summer with coffee lemonade.

Start by adding 300 ml ices to your glass. Pour over 1 Caffè di Artisan coffee pod, 8ml of fresh squeezed lemon juice, and 300 ml sparkling water. Give it a gentle stir, top with mint leaves and a lemon and voila! A coffee lemonade to enjoy by the pool.

Feel free to add simple syrup if you like a little extra sweetness.

2) Rose Water Cardamom Iced Coffee

If you have a discerning palate, you are sure to adore the rose water cardamom iced coffee. It’s a little bit sweet, lightly spiced, and offers delicate floral notes guaranteed to delight your taste buds.

The first step is to create rose syrup by adding 175 ml sugar, 30 ml dried rose petals, and 300 ml water in a pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then let it simmer until the contents reduce by one quarter volume. Strain and cool the syrup before use, or else it will melt your drink. You can even store the syrup in your refrigerator for a couple of months.

Now for the drink itself… Add 2.5 ml cardamom powder to 300 ml of milk (your choice). Mix well.  In a separate serving glass, add your single Caffè di Artisan luxury coffee pod, adding 300 ml ice on top. Next, add 30 ml rose syrup over the ice, as well as the mixture from before. Add a rose petal or two to the glass for an expert presentation.

3) Nutella Blended Frozen Coffee

Since gourmet coffee often contains chocolatey and nutty flavour notes, it pair quite well with Nutella, a chocolate and hazelnut spread. This is the perfect drink for a coffee drinkers with a sweet tooth.

In a large blender, add 300 ml soy milk, 1 Caffè di Artisan gourmet coffee pod, a half 2 ml vanilla extract, 20 ml Nutella, 15 ml sugar, and 1 ice cube. Blend until the mixture has reached a smooth and even consistency.

Add a little chocolate syrup or Nutella to the sides of the cup for presentation. Garnish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder or a single piece of dark chocolate.

4) Iced Ube Horchata Latte

Ube is a trendy flavour that is popping up everywhere. But what is ube? Ube, pronounced oo-bae, is a purple sweet potato from the Philippines. Its sweet, full of antioxidants, and delightfully purple in colour. When added to this horchata coffee drink, it really brings the flavours together.

Here’s how to make iced ube horchata lattes for three to four people.

Add .5 liters each of almond milk, coconut milk, and rice milk to a large pitcher. Whisk vigorously while sprinkling in 10 ml cinnamon and 60 ml sugar. The mixture should be smooth and even (i.e. no lumps or clumps of sugar). Next, add 15 mlube extract and stir well. Chill the pitch of liquid in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

In serving glasses, add ample ice. Then pour the pitcher into the glasses leaving a little room on top for your single coffee pod of Caffè di Artisan espresso. Serve and enjoy!
